New tank setup...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My heaters arrived yesterday and the feeder fish and plants today. I had already put in the driftwood, some rocks and some other plants I bought (couldn't wait) here are some pics - bare and what it looks like now (forgive the crappy photography, my first effort at aquarium photography - tips welcome!). The plants that arrived today are in buckets of water till I get a chance to put them in (probably tomorrow after work)

My second filter also arrived today - Resun Xtreme EF2800U. I have found it's too big to fit under the tank in the cabinet so going to have to pull the current filter out and put it in the other side so the Resun can go next to the cabinet..... I hate tight spaces!

Will update with more pics once I have put in the other plants

more plants added.... also figured out better to take pics of tank at night with the room lights off. I also turned off one of the T5 tubes in the tank to reduce glare

sweet tank I love the rock background it looks great with the live plants and driftwood! keep the updates coming!!

whered you get ur background. looks grat. i never cycle lol i know its bad. no fish have died tho!

I bought the tank second hand with the background already in it. It looks good but it does stick out a fair bit from the back wall in places. There is a big "cave" on the bottom right because it overhangs so much and I put rocks in front to partially close it

I haven't done a proper cycle before either - normally throw the stuff in, add water, leave it for a week and then add fish. This time I actually did it properly with some used filter media then putting in feeder fish before transferring the stock from my 105g over in a couple of weeks. I just hope the plants survive the fish!

The light is a 5 foot cyber aqua with 2x 54w T5 tubes. I would have got the 6 foot version but it wouldn't fit under the hood. The 5 foot version certainly gives off a lot of light with both tubes on though.

Be a couple of weeks before I move the fish in. I'm going to give the plants a chance to establish before throwing in the big fish.

I have just put in the new Resun xTreme EF2800U filter - jeez the thing pumps some water - it was 'blowing' the feeder fish all around the tank until I turned the input tap down a bit. Between the 2 filters there should be more than enough filtration to cope.

Been a while since I updated. plants are established now (wisteria has gone crazy, have to prune it soon) and the fish from my 4 foot tank are all in there. (forgive the green tinge - it's just the photos not the tank)
