New Tank Setup!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Wish I could keep a tank in my garage, it would turn into a block of ice in the winter. You should be okay with a 150g upstairs as long as it is perpendicular to the floor joists, especially since you are putting in on a load bearing wall. My former 150g was on a 2nd floor for years with no problems. Disclaimer: I'm not a structural engineer!

Thanks, CharlieTuna, but since I am not a structural engineer either (nor do I know any), I think I'll play it safe and stick with the garage. I've kinda put my self into a catch 22 with setting up the tank upstairs; I don't want to pay for a structural engineer to assess the situation, but I won't put the tank upstairs unless a structural engineer runs the numbers and makes sure it is well within a safe parameter. Go figure . . . :)
