He would have an easier time reading a beginners book to marine fish keeping. I know when I started off I couldn't think of all the questions that I needed. That wasn't very niceOscaroo ask as many questions as you want/need, that is how you learn.

This is HORRIBLY wrong! - It takes years for a tank to fully mature. Cycling takes 4 - 10 weeks maybe quicker if your lucky enuff to have no die back on aquacultered and cured LR. B+B does not live in the water column, it lives in the Rock and under the sand. adding old water only increses Nitrates, old sand that is disturbed is yet another Nitrate bomb , don't use gravel in a marine enviorment - best to start fresh and new.It will take you anywhere from 2-5 weeks to mature the tank. it's different for everyone. My guess for that tank would be about 2 weeks, but you need to keep checking the water with tests to know when the tank is fully cycled. If you can get your hands on a few buckets of mature water from an established marine tank then you can knock the time down to a week maybe less. same goes for a handfull of established gravel.

I only say this because it has worked for me in the past. I moved lots of water from my reef tank, and some gravel into a 90gal that was previously freshwater, and converted it into a fish only aquarium. only took a week to cycle. I did all the tests and the tank was fine, the fish lived in there happily until a freak accident. I have read many people doing this online, especially with smaller tanks. as I said up there it will speed up the process if most of the water in the tank is from an established aquarium and the addition of the sand would mature the system much faster than normal.
also, its one of those things you had to be there to get. Oscaroo is annoying as hell you all just don't know it yet.
I don't even post that much. I am not annoying anymore!!!!!!I only say this because it has worked for me in the past.
