New tank, think tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'd say probably no way to know unless you try. It might work in a 220. There is a guy here who has a large trio in a 75 if I remember correctly. Not that I'm recommending that.

I was thinking harem while growing out from the 4in size to around 8in.Then the sub females can be sold and only the male and the female he likes the most stays.
My thoughts were to get more activity in the tank without dithers. I saw a YouTube vid of a guy doing this, but his male was bigger and had lots of hides for the smaller females. May be a bit different with all the same size fish.

Problem is that females can lay eggs at 4" total length. If the male is not substantially bigger than the females, the females can destroy the male, testing to see if he is worthy to breed.

Didn’t Andy woods cichlids uk Andy woods cichlids uk try a harem of Festae? What size tank was it he used?

Too bad it’s not an 8ft but hey can’t complain about donated tanks.

Another option I’ve been considering is loading the tank up with drift and bogwood and doing a group of Chocolate Cichlids.
