Marc, those dimensions come up with it being 600g(599g actually)quote] no it is 718 if you do lengh x with x hight(in inches) divided by 231 you get gallons. aslo as far as a sump i think you do want 1/3 the tank size( about 240gallon sump); also make sure the pump that it pumping back to the tank is stronger then the one pumping in to the sump. As far as bio media if you want somthing cheap and effecive(sp) i go with nylon pot scubby(sp). If you want somthing that is nicer looking i go with bio balls wich are not cheap. For that kind of setup you want about 3-5 turn over an hour(2,154-3,590). One more thing you will ned mech filtration at the beging of your sump try these http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+3579+16746&pcatid=16746. Also heres a link to a sump http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=83107. hope this helps:)

people use the smaller ones.. so I wouldn't see why not. My main issue with a huge sump was weight/containing it in the bottom of a stand but rubbermaid would save alot of weight..

I picked up the tank this morning. She in rough shape but solid. Scratched all over from being a saltwater tank but i started buffing today and i think i will come back in to shape with alot of elbow grease. It was only $300 bucks and $94 in gas. Damn hemi only got 14.67 miles to gallon at 74 mph. Ill post the hole layout bc im kinda unsure what has to happen.

LOL you certianly don't need 5 or 6 FX5's. 3 would be more than adiquate. I personally know of three 300 gallon tanks each running very well on a single FX5.

The design of the sump has a lot more to do with the capacity than it's size. A pair of them might be a better idea than a single huge wet/dry.

An ocean clear sealed pressure system (actully a pair of them) would also be good for a tank of that size IMO.
