If you look at my signature you can see what I have in my tank. I was interested in freshwater barracudas, or other characins. Would the be an alright fit with my dats and my ctenopoma. The other fish probably wont be in this 125 gallon tank for much longer.
 
I would worry about the dats smacking the hujetas or cachorros, they are slender fish and full bodied predators can get greedy
 
thank you, I want some kind of predator that schools almost, or something that is very active. Dats seem to hide.
 
Hujeta gars contary to most info only grow to about 10" average and do better in groups of 3 or more.Although they will take small whitebait when full grown they are not great hunters and even though they will take food as it is dropped in seem to prefer eating off the bottom.They are quite active swimmers and are not nocturnal.
 
Hujetas would be a good choice for schooling predators since you are planning on moving the other fish, they do well with most large dither fish as well.
