Heres my new columbian tegu i picked up today. Just wanted to put up a couple pics
Please ignore the ugly decor and foggy glass, hes in an older tank for quarantine atm.
Also i know what im getting into before anyone tells me...

Thanks ..columbians are said to be more aggressive and harder to tame than the Argentine tegu tho that seems to be a matter of opinion..
They can be nippy and huffy like most young lizards but with time, patience and work most calm down so we'll see how it goes.

Thanks guys =) . They usually end up in the 30"-36" range depending on m or f. Not sure which mine is yet though i call it a 'he'. Ive left him alone for the most part to let him settle in but im probably going to start getting him out today and get to work on the taming. Ive got an order of whole carcass ground meats coming from hare-today.com so that should help put some size on him. Im very excited to see how everything goes.

aaaawwww. I love tegus. what size enclosure you keepin him/her in, if you dont mind me asking?

Well for the moment hes in a 20gal long tank. Before anyone freaks out its only short term for quarantine purposes and hes not very big yet. He'll be moving to a 4' x 18" (or 24" cant remember exactly, its in my garage) once QT is over and thatll work thru winter. Once its nice out again we'll be building his permanent enclosure which will be something in the range of 6'x3'. I've decided to call him/her Vega.
On another note..i tried the whole 'sit in the bathtub and let him crawl on you' thing. It was interesting, hes a bit crazy and i got tail whipped in the face when i tried to get him off me after he came flying at me and ran onto the back of my neck. By the end he just stopped and laid on my arm i suppose from bein tired after running around like a psycho.
I also tried feeding him the ground rabbit from hare-today.com and he loved it. Im very happy he likes the ground foods i got esp. after i about puked dividing it up to put in the freezer...
