"Water taming" as it is called is about the silliest idea I've ever heard of.. You're giving them the option of swimming forever or crawling onto a deadly predator that in the lizard's mind, wants to kill and eat it.
A much better way with tegus and monitors is to simply leave them alone and let them come to you on their own, once they realize that you are the magical bringer of delicious treats. Think of it like taming a feral cat or dog.
 
I know what youre talking about but it wasnt 'water taming' as there was no water involved. I was literally sitting in my empty bathtub on a towel with the doors closed. The idea with that is you just sit there and they crawl around and check you out and hopefully with time see that youre not so 'scary'. Its really just a safe place to spend time where they cant take off and hide or get lost.
I also just sit near his cage and talk to him or play on my phone or just read so he can see me but i dont try to mess with him and he just watches me.
I fully understand its not going to be an overnight thing where he'll just magically be ok with me..baby steps..and i hope things will just continue to move in a good direction.

Water taming? have you sat in a bathtub naked with a lizard?:screwy: i have never herd of "water taming" but i have herd of the empty bathtub trick i have herd that it works well

LOL..water taming is just putting the lizard in the tub and putting your hand/arm in so they can use it as a 'safe' place instead of constantly swimming.
