I just got a batch of Temensis. Wow am I excited. They were in a bag for about 10 hours. They came out pretty groggy. When I finally put them in the tank they just stayed at the bottom for the first day. Its the second day and they look much better. They're not eating though. I tried fish pellets and dried little shrimp. No interest at all. Then I put some little 1/4 inch fish in there. Holy Crap they came alive. What suggestions does everyone have for getting them to eat. I'm worried that they are weak from the trip. How long will they last without eating? Thank's for the help.

Is it normal if a couple of them have what looks to me like blood under the skin right at the base of the tail?

They still look a bit stressed out to me. Give them a cpl of days to settle down before worrying about them not eating.

When they got here their stomachs were all sunk in. How long can they go without eating? Even the tired looking ones woke up when I put the little feeder fish in there.

keep em well feed and at 86-87 degrees and they should perk right back up in a couple days....nice pickups. Are these goin in the pond/pool in a few months?

I want to wait for the pond/pool to mature and then we'll see. First I want the population of feeder fish to grow a little bit. I suppose I'll put them in the other pond with the Guapotes first. I won't do that until they are about 10 inches long though. I already have about 6 Guapotes that are around 4-5lbs. I would hate to lose the temensis to the Guapotes. Man are these things cool. How long will it take for them to get the spot on their tale?

Just be careful with the Dovii. Even at 10 inch - the tems will get destroyed. Put the tems in the big pond minus the Dovii and watch their growth explode. I love that pond Tuggerd! Trust me - the tems will also.

Tuggerd, I PM'd you. Glad to see most made the shipping. AAA told me a couple arrived DOA to him. Cichla, are a bit tricky to ship. They digest quick as they are predators and have short tract, and they are not fed prior to shipping as they foul the water pretty quick. Will get you the Ocellaris hopefully on next shipment to CR in 2 weeks.

Buy the way guys I got these from fat Joe. I'm super impressed at how nice these fish are. They've stopped be drunk and have perked up. I got more feeder fish, dragon fly larvae and a couple of worms from my pool and put them in the tank. When they target in on something its as good as gone. Thank's again Joe.

you could also try cut up pieces of shrimp.
nice tems!
what do you mean by blood at the base of the tail?
maybe youre talking about the red coloration they get at the lower half of the caudal fin?
