I am not sure if that is ray safe or not

What makes you suspect parasites?

Have you tested all water parameters?

In my limited experience with rays it is almost always the most simple explanation which is water quality. I would hate to see you treat your rays if you don't have to.

My fish have been losing it's appetite. It shows some white spots on the body.
I have put it in my medical tank and treat it with melafix, salt and heater @ 30 celcius.
After 3 days of treatment it still shows no sign of improvement.
I wonder if that is bacteria..?

I would try Prazi before anything else,it is the only thing I've ever had to use when suspecting parasites,if after 3-4 days you don't see any improvement, only then would I move on to stronger meds.

This advice is based on the assumption that all your water p's have tested at acceptable levels.

Good Luck!

I agree with MBU. Go with prazi first. I tried 2-3 different products because no1 locally sold prazi. Nothing worked I finally ordered some prazi off of the Internet. And it worked in 1-2 days, so I wasted my money on the other crap

if you do try it let us know how it goes... i am looking at getting into rays once my 600 gallon is up and going and i have been treating my fish with jungle labs parasite clear tank buddies which has the same ingredients... would love to know if it is ok with rays... not sure i will be the test subject tho... i can say i have used it at full dose with tigs over a 3 week treatment... but i know tigs are not rays so it doesn't help much...

I assume this is wild caught, how long have you had it?

If this is parasites or bacteria then I would not be using a hospital tank for a few reasons:

1) if one fish has parasites then the rest are bound to have it, therefore the whole tank and tank mates needs treatment.
2) I doubt the hospital tank has a filter as good as the main tank and it will not have adapted to rays bio load....sick rays need the best water, this could be causing stress.
3) the stress of the move could make it worse, often rays do not eat for a few days in a new tank.
4) there is a high chance that this could just be water quality issues, very high nitrate will put a ray off it's food...in fact any poor parameter might. Please check the tank for ph, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate using in date or new test kits and do not use dip strips plus be honest with the results, I think many people do not accept that their water keeping is poor.
5) high temps will reduce the oxygen available and rays need lots of air.

Good luck
