If this is parasites or bacteria then I would not be using a hospital tank for a few reasons:
1) if one fish has parasites then the rest are bound to have it, therefore the whole tank and tank mates needs treatment.
2) I doubt the hospital tank has a filter as good as the main tank and it will not have adapted to rays bio load....sick rays need the best water, this could be causing stress.
3) the stress of the move could make it worse, often rays do not eat for a few days in a new tank.
4) there is a high chance that this could just be water quality issues, very high nitrate will put a ray off it's food...in fact any poor parameter might. Please
check the tank for ph, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate using in date or new test kits and do not use dip strips plus be honest with the results, I think many people do not accept that their water keeping is poor.
5) high temps will reduce the oxygen available and rays need lots of air.
Good luck
Yes Toby is right.
One ray got the parasite the others got them too.
I have to move all my rays to hospital tanks and treat them iin groups
The large ones go in individual tanks, and the small ones are all in one 200 liter tank.
My tank main tank is very big, it's 3000 liter tank.
So there is no way that I can put the medicine in the main tank.
It's going to waste all the medicine.
As for the prazi, i can't get it locally. I am located in Indonesia.
So today i have decided to try the parasite guard by tetra.
I dissolved 2 tablets in a glass and pour the dissolved meds in the tanks.
After 3 hours or so the rays started to move around.
It looks like the meds is working great
Now the questions is :
How do I know if my rays are healed after dosing the parasite guard?
How do I know if I need to do the second dosage?
It says in the label that I need to do 25% water change, after 48 hours if I want to do second dose.
