Hello,

Unfortunately, I do not have pics of the 2 new additions, but I will soon.

One of my old parrot hybrids died 2 weeks ago of old age. Very sad for me as they were born in my tank 5 years ago.

So, I was down in the dumps and went to the LFS. Low and behold, they have Texas Cichlids. I have always wanted one, but never found any.

Anyway, I bought 2 of them. Both are no bigger than 2.5 inches in length. By far, the smallest fish in my tank.

Anyway, these guys are REAL aggressive. I mean WAY more aggressive than my other fish that are much bigger.

They are already picking on my 5 inch female dovii, and one of my Jags that is 4 inches. The 5 inch jag holds his own with either of them but neither of them back down. They even go after my 6 in JD!

They fight with each other too! None of my other fish exhibit any of this behavior.

I mean occasionally, they will nudge each other, but nothing serious.

So, I have plenty of hiding spaces and blind spots in the tank, so it isn't like that is all they do. But, these little texas cichlids (both of them) are just SO aggressive. I can see another large tank coming in the future!

Are these cichlids known to be THAT aggressive???? Or, did I just pick two bad ass Texas Cichlids out of the 12 or so the store had.

They are BEAUTIFUL though!

Id say wait until tomorrow morning, after the lights have been out all night. They will either be hiding or will have been eaten by the jag.

Looks like the Jag is a little small to eat them. My Texas isn't that aggressive, but he does run the show in a tank with five other cichlids. The only fish I own who got the better of him was my Polleni, which is now in another tank.

I guess we'll see tomorrow, but I know a 5 inch Jag can eat a 2.5 inch fish with ease. Its happened more than once in my tanks, and even happened with bigger ones than 2.5.

I have one a bit over 1 in, smallest one in tank and really aggressive, almost killed 2 of my other variant texas that are bigger than him, so i imprisoned him. Other variants seem to be peaceful living in community.
Pictures will be posted soon.

how big is ur tank? if u have a bigger tank, they won't fight as much.

Lol hes got a 265 gallon tank. You think thats big enough?

Aggression of texas were never clearly described on the internet until i actually experienced it. the imprisoned texas i believe is the one that u have, it does not like to hide, and the lahillas/chariel..or whatever texas they are called, like to hide.
