New Texas - Help Identify Please

Hi all,

Just picked up this little beauty yesterday (labelled as Texas Cichlid) to grow out in my 155g community tank.

It was the most aggressive in the tank and had the best colouration.

What do we think at this early stage, green or blue, male or female?

I've read the females have the black markings on the dorsal, but have also seen males with this colouring.

I think it's a blue female texas cichlid.

You're right, it really does resemble a Red Texas

Looks Carpintis maybe Vontehillo or Escondido?? Nice fish you picked up!

Either a Green Texas (Herichthys carpintis) or Red Texas (in this case prolly a Green Texas cross). Definitely not a Texas (Herichthys cyanogutattum).

I don't think its a Red Texas, I think the camera is throwing off colors that aren't really there. Just looks Carpintis to me.

Texas usually dont have worming on the face like that do they? I thought Texas had only spots where Carpintis (or Carpintis cross) had the worming on the face. Is this correct or not?
