New Thai Silk

Hello, I just purchased my new FH last night. I got a Thai Silk. Plz help me determine if its a Male or a Female and if it is a good quality color. At what length do they start growing their "Kok"? The fish is 3 inches right now and is eating New Life Spectrum pellets. Thx for ur time.

She's a pretty one. It does not look like he will have much of a kok, but around 5" to 6" it starts to stand out.
 
Looks female to me, no kok and anal fin isn't long. Check the tube, if its round its female, if its pointy its male. Color looks good, great red eyes.
 
I agree with McPhisy, looks like a female to me.

You can't quite say that they won't have much of a kok, some fish are very late bloomers. Even at 5-6", they might still look the same then at 8" all of a sudden. It blow out into the size of a golf ball or maybe bigger.
Although on average base, most FH kok start peaking at this age.

While generally true enough, typically not something that you will see with Thai Silk, especially in the newer strains. Most Thai Silk being bred now will show kok development starting bewteen 2-3 inches.
 
Nice pearls... seems to be mid to new generation TS. 1st generation did not retain the plated pearl, it broke as the fish grew. Judging by shape I think she's female, but only for sure way to tell is by venting.
 
The anal fin was longer like the top fin but 1 of my african cichlids was messing with it when i let the FH into the tank... but i took out the african cichlids and sold them to a friend.... how do you vent the fish?... should i just wait or trade it in for this other thai silk... will a female be as colorful as a male... i really want to get a male
