New to Acrylic

Ya. that top brace doesn't look so nice. It has cracks on it too.... How can i do about remover the patch and making a new one a little better?
 
i got an acrylic 125 and a glass 125... i like the acrylic even though its under 240 gallons because its clearer!! and took only people to carry in the house while the 125 took 3 cause one guys slipped and the other guy caught it!! its lighter clearer but it scratches easier and its 50% stronger then glass i think....
 
It took 6 for my 240glass... 2 for back up :) but how can i take off the top brace and make a new one? or just the hole damn thing.
 
So how can i go about replacing that patch that he put over the crack?

So if i fill it up and it last for 2 week it should be fine right?
