New To African Cichlids

I used seachem's malawi buffer as well as prime when I filled the tank. Just so I know I'm ok on my water. My ph is 7.9 and the hardness is around 220. I was told by my lfs that hardness should be between 200 and 250. Is this correct? What else should I be concerned about as far as water parameters go? If everything is ok I'm gonna drop in a few yellow labs to help with the cycle. I got 5 for $10 at my lfs.
