Hey guys, going to setup a mbuna tank, but need some advice on stocking as it's obviously completely the opposite to ca/same cichlids.

Tank is a 40x18.5x20, plenty of filtration, hardscape, water chemistry etc.. won't be a problem.

Stocking wise looking for the smaller fish, and with what's available to my area, need some input on quantities, ratios and compatibility.

So far looking at a mix of maybe yellow labs, demasoni, masked Julie's and blue Johannis. 3 species max 15 fish about right for this tank?

Also here is the species list from my LFS of what's available:
Malawi/Tanganyika/Victoria Cichlids
Electric Yellow
Auratus/Yellowstripe
Albino Auratus/Yellowstripe
Cobalt Blue
Ps. Zebra Ice Blue
Ps. Zebra Albino
Ps. Aurora
Ps. Elongatus
Demasoni
Frontosa
Nimbochromis Livingstonii
Nimbochromis polystigma
Nimbochromis venustus (Giraffe)
Marble/OB Peacocks
Pink Peacocks
Haplochromis Brownae
Orange Zebra
Snow Whites
Red Fin Kadango
Masked Julie
Lombardoi
Johanni
Labeotropheus Fuelleborni
Tropheus Duboisi
Tropheus Pemba
Tropheus Moorii Moliro/Firefox

The blue Johannis are cool but the females arent as pretty. Look into maingano they look just like Johanni but Male and female look alike

dont think we get maingano here.

From whats available i think my options are: (please comment if they wont work, or quanties are wrong)
Looking for blue, yellow and maybe white. We dont get rustys here unfortuntaly otherwise that would be a nice mix in the colours.

4/5/6 Yellow labs
4/5/6 white socolofi
4/5/6 cobalt blue zebras
Would these zebras get too big for a 50g tall?

4/5/6 Yellow labs
4/5/6 white socolofi
12 Demasoni
Is this overstocked?

failing the above:
6 yellow labs
12 demasoni

Yellow labs are cool and arent too aggressive in my experience. The cobalt zebra on the other hand, I've had 3 and they have all been spawns of satan. I have one now in my 125 grow out with a peacock, acei and a couple fronts and he is going to find a new home soon. Barely 3 inches and he is a nasty bugger

Huh, my cobalt zebras (group of 3) are less aggressive then my group of yellow labs. Based on the acei I have had, I would expect it to be more aggressive then the cobalt. Surprised it is able to live with peacocks and fronts.

I was surprised to. But he's a bastard. They will all be going in different tanks soon. They are just in the 125 grow out so they dont get eaten. And the acei just lives to eat.
