New to aggressive/semi aggressive- what to do?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
There may be one specie suitable for life in a tank that size but they are pretty pricey usually, mokelembembe bichirs only make it to around ten inch

Why bichirs? Snakeheads are a much more aggressive, colourful, and active alternative, with some dwarf species that will fit well in your tanks. just make sure they are legal where you live.

And if Pole had taken a minute like everyone tells him to, he would realize the OP is in America and snakeheads are illegal.

Hmm 3 feet isnt a very good space for a bichir tank, id reccomend starting em in a 55 unless you get babies, they can be grown out in the 30. Id try to get at least a 4 foot space for it if you want bichirs long term

I'd think if you got a 40b that has a footprint of like 3ft and width of 18" you could really fit a del, a sen, i guess a moke but that's a harder to find fish. Also on the moke they are pretty hard to feed because they are almost all WC and are hard to get onto whatever you are feeding (IME). However it's not always hard to get them onto what your feeding. IMO though mokes would not be a bicher to start with. I would recommend either a senegal or delhezi.

I cant seem to find 40 gallons online
You can try craigslist, or possibly look at a LFS and if they don't have one ask them if they can get any in stock. If you really played it smart you would wait until petco starts their dollar per gallon sale, and until then research the fish you want, and what equipment you'd use on the tank etc..,

Oh last time i saw a 40 it was 3.5 feet long and 14 wide i believe, somewhere around there at least. But yeah, i agree those will fit in a 40 of those dimens for life
