I think it will be a lot easier to convert a silver's then it is to convert a pbass.

now that i have him eating crickets is there a guide somewere that would give me some info on getting him on pellets?
Convert to pellets by only feeding pellets. Once it is eating pellets, only then is it a good idea to expand their diet. Your new silver will eat pellets long before it will starve to death, you just have to be discipline. Unfortunately the hardest food to convert them from is crickets, they love them. Crickets are not very complete nutritionally speaking and should not be fed as a staple. Once it is eating pellets crickets are OK to feed once a week.

so ur saying i should not try to bulk him up first? just go straight for the pellets?

Yes that is what I am saying. Juvi arowana don't "bulk up" they just grow longer. Ever see a pic of a fat arowana? You won't see any bulk on that arowana until it is over 20".

Also, keep your temp up 84-86 degrees, once it is eating good drop the temp to 82-84 degrees.

ok so just a lil update today the aro grabed pellets put them in his mouth and spit them out... didnt actually swallow one yet but atleast he thinks its a food source now... how long should i expect it to take for him to start eating them whole
?

Each aro responds differently. Keep feeding him pellets until he eats them. Some will eat them very quickly, some will be stubborn and take a week.

I gave up feeding my aro pellets, I think mine is pretty smart he would elegantly ignore pellets now LOL
Mine is about the same exact size with urs right now, but mine has thicker body and a lot more color on him, I dunno why but I like the way he is.
I'm feeding it with frozen and 2 lives every day I will put him with pellet diets once I could starve him safely.
And I also stocked mine almost like urs minus the gar :)
I have him almost a month now and I set my water temp at 80
