I have built myself a 300 gallon aquarium and want an arowana, I want a RTG asian aro but I feel like I don't have enough knowledge for one. So my plan is to get either a silver, black or jardini aro. My question is if the aro I will be getting is 8" will I have to worry about any of my stock bullying him.
My stock is
- 4x 8" tinfoil bard
- 1x 5" silver dollar
-2x 10" asian upside down catfish
- 1x 6" jaguar cichlid
- 1x 4" red devil
- 1x 13" koi
- 2x 14" endlicheri bichir
- 2x 5" Raphael catfish
- 1x 10" parrot cichlid

+1 Zeke correct , plus the upside cats will fin nip from beneath (Asian are especially nasty) , you'll have to put your aro in a growout for a while first , if you get a jardini expect most of your stock to get wiped out eventually , you may end up with cats , poly and jag if your lucky and have space

So ditch the catfish and cichlids and I may be fine, like I said I have now experience with them, but with caring for other species I honestly think they'd be fine with poly's.

If I was you I'd set up a growout tank for the aro and get it a big bigger and feeding well before putting it in your main tank , aros are very fragile when young , you could be ok with polys in the long run but the cichlids and cats are definitely a gamble as they will nip fins etc so your aro needs to be big enough to stick up for itself and take a few hits

What are the dimensions of your tank? This isn't your "L" shaped tank is it? Which would be way too narrow to support a large arowana.
