hey guys i've been checking around this forum for a few days after my dad allowed me to bring in a 100 gal tank in my room that has been sitting in the garage for a while now and will be getting 2 baby silver aro pretty soon. i never had an aro in my whole life and always wanted one. before, i had huge koifish that lived in the 100gal tank but now aro will take over!! anyways i need help considering if a 100 gal tank is too much for 2 baby aro (3-4 inches), what kind of chemicals should i put in the tank before letting the aro into the water, food to feed to make him bigger asap and not make the water dirty, i have a mini heater but i dont think its enough for the whole tank; do you think i need another one or get a bigger one, do i need air bubbles, and could i get any tankmate as well. thanks for your time.

You do not have a tank big enough to house 2 silver aros for very long. Aros that are as small as you are planning on getting are very fragile and require pristine water conditions.

You do not seem like you have very much experience as an aquarist, and arowana are not for beginners. Do some research (I suggest completely understanding the nitrogen cycle pertaining to aquariums) and then come back and ask lots of questions. Save your money cause your gonna need to get a 300 plus gallon tank to properly house the arowana that you are planning.

Before adding the fish, the tank must be cycled if you haven't already done so.
How many watts is your heater? It's suggested 4-5watts per gallon.
So you'll need 400-500watts for your 100gal tank.
What kind of filters are you using?
If you haven't read the threads, you should. It'll do wonders.
As far as food, you would want to feed less fatty food to prevent DE. IE Pellets.
Oh, keep the lids closed with some weight, they'll jump out.

Good luck and welcome to MFK.

Bderick67 is right. I just didnt want to be the first to say it :D
You see, I'm a nice guy. Anyway, with 100gal tank, you can still keep monster fish, just not a Arowana.
Look into Oscars, they're fun to keep. Grow fast and large.

i think you should read up on aro's more and do some research, most ppl say aro's arnt meant for beginners but if you read up on it and do what is require to keep your fishes healthy, im sure you'll do fine. all your questions can be answered by searching them on this forum so you can read up at the same time. goodluck

wow you guys very honest and i respect you guys. i dont want to kill any arowana, since im not gonna get any bigger tank im gonna buy a single jar arowana for the price of 2 silvers. i got alot to learn before i can get my hands on one of them and time will tell. thanks alot i knew this community would help me alot

As its 100g get a small jar... that way its cheap too... they grow slow but not super slow so you will have time to upgrade but still need to plan ahead pretty quickly...

awesome but can someone tell me what is this Cycling thing? i might have a clue of what it would be but not really sure, leaving the tank on and operating without any fish for a day or some more to get the tank up and running for the fishy? lol...
