The staple for my two sen's is hikari carnivore. They used to eat a bit of bloodworm but now they don't come to the top for much in the way of food. I was feeding hikari freeze dried krill for a while...if/when it stayed in the tank long enough to sink they were all over it. Now I feed them frozen (raw) beefheart every once in a while, thats about the only extra they get with their carnivore pellets.
Once I get a little extra money I'm going to pick up some omega one sinking shrimp pellets & sinking cichlid pellets. I'd say in another 2 or 3 months my larger sen might be ready for massivore, but we'll see.
I feed mine NLS, massivore, and black worms. Occasionally the small fish that I have in there that I just wanted to get rid of (a few angels, kissing gourami, tetras) LOL
Oh right...I'm also breeding convicts as feeders The fry are 3-4 weeks old now and still far too small to feed. I throw in 4 or 5 sometimes and they last a day or two usually. I think they're just too small for the bichirs or the cats to really care about hunting down to eat.
Hey Riskee? Do you have a cover for the tank? bichirs are exceptional escape artists! i can still remember how shocked i was to see my "senie" frolicking outside his tank...
lol yea i got one but it has a lil opening from the filters i saw him swiming around with my texas and was at the top looks like im not gana have good night sleeps lol
For staple mine get the hakari carnivore pellets as well, they LOVE them. as soon as it hits the water they come out rushing for them. i also give them some shrimp pellets now and then which they also gobble up. I've tried real shrimp (kind you get from the grocery store, had some left over from a party non cooked) and beef heart (have 6 lbs in my freezer atm from the butcher >.> ) and they don't seem interested in them. Weird, mine love pellets over real food.
Mine love cichlid pellets. They also love frozen foods like blood worms, and I treat mine occasionally with live feeders. Beware, my endlicheri ate my ghost knife who was the same length! But I've never seen this with my senegalus's.
so hikire cichlid pellets are good for the cus i got 3 bags of the sinking ones and my bichir is always swiming and at the top of the tank is this bad only a few times i saw him in his hide hes in a tank with a short body texas thats never messed with him and today he was on my taxes could he hurt my taxes thanks guys for all the help
