I just got my new blood parrots yesterday. There is two of them, one looks like a typical bp and the other looks more red devil looking. They are currently in a 30g with 75g filter waiting for the 55g to finish cycling. They are about 6 inches. The BP looking one (Hamlet) is very tattered from his stay at the petstore and tilts to one side, is that normal? The other one does not tilt. My other question is, the other one (Pandora) will randomly swim up to Hamlet and mouth his side. Hamlet will then swim up to a corner and she will stop, then if he moves from that spot again she swims over and mouths him again. I cannot tell if this is aggression or not. Any opinions?

Here are a few photos of Hamlet to show how torn up he looks:

Here is some of Pandora:

Also, out of curiosity, how long can the two of them live in the 30g?

They are already to big to stay in that tank together. The tilting may be a sign of some internal issues. The mouthing is aggression and may stress the victim to death

Thank you for the response. Is there anything I can do to help Hamlet with his possible internal issues?

They will be going in a 55g, I was just curious about the 30g. Also, now Pandora is doing something new. She swims up underneath Hamlet and floats laying on her side while looking up at him.

Hopefully it's not some kind of swim bladder problem.

Well I returned the mean one, she was just not letting up. I exchanged her for a little 3 inch bp. I know it is recommended to get fish the same size but I thought this would be more successful and it is! They get along great. His tilting has already gotten better too, he is also more active. They will be going in their 55g for sure within this month. :)

Poor Hamlet, he's tattered up pretty bad :(
Glad to hear you've worked things out though. It definitely sounds like Pandora was a bit too mean for him, especially with him being in the process of healing.
Any pictures of your newest addition?
