New to Blood Parrots, Behavioral Questions.

Well I got them in the 55g. Also, it is a long story but I ended up with more than just the bps in the 55g. I also have in there 4 giant danios, 1 spotted leaf fish, 1 common pleco, and 1 featherfin catfish. Can these fish stay with the blood parrots? Are they all compatible together?

Here are some pictures (btw the little blood parrot and the leaf fish love each other, they are always touching each other and swimming together): (light bulb went out, I am getting a new one tomorrow.)

Aweh, your blood parrots really remind me of my pair, especially your newest little guy, he looks just like my Eli :)

I think your stocking should work for the time being, but once everybody reaches their full size some people would argue that your tank is significantly over stocked. (Giant Danios can reach up to 4", Common Plecos can exceed 18", Featherfins around 6", Leaf Fish around 6")

It's generally recommended that Giant Danios be kept in schools of at least 6, but you might be okay with just the 4.
I have a 2" Pleco, and a featherfin catfish, I received with a free tank I picked up, that are currently residing in a 55 with my BP's and they've been doing good together so far, though Common Plecos get to be 18+ inches and can add a lot to the "Bioload" and may eventually need to be housed in something bigger.

I don't have much experience with any of the species in your tank aside from parrots so I'd like to hear what somebody else has to say.

Thanks, yeah the other fish just kind of fell in my lap. They were not fish I would have picked out myself. The tank was given to me by a friend but he failed to mention it came with fish. I had no where else to put these fish so I just set the tank up and put my bps in there as I thought they would get along. I do not mind rehoming some of the other fish if I need to.

So Hamlet keeps pushing the leaf fish with his mouth and moves him around a little, I know this is aggression but the leaf fish does not seem bothered by it. When Hamlet pokes him he just keeps searching for food on the gravel and does not run away or even acknowledge Hamlet. Hamlet then will swim away after pushing him once, though will come back later to try again. Is this ok?

Here are some more pictures, I added a large rock and fixed the light bulb. Last picture is of my 20g molly tank, had to include them too.:)

I know what you mean about the fish just falling into your lap, same thing happened to me about a week ago, it's actually how I got my Featherfin and Pleco, someone was giving away a free 35G setup so I jumped at the chance, even if it just ended up in my basement as a spare, you can't really go wrong with free, but the guy neglected to mention that he was including fish.

I wouldn't worry too much about the aggression, blood parrots can't really do much damage due to their deformed mouths, which I'm guessing is why the leaf fish isn't bothered by it. They're in a new tank with new fish, give them a few days and they should sort out who's territory is who's and it should calm down.

Nice tanks :)

The fish are indeed getting more comfortable. Hamlet is not really pecking at the leaf fish much anymore and the pleco has finally started coming out (though now Hamlet keeps pecking at him. lol). I caught the catfish out today too, once he saw me he hid but still. :)
