P.S. i am looking to breed dwarf or giant gouramis( or both:naughty: ) sooooo r these good starting breeder fish if not what is?
ANY HELP WOULD BE MUCH APPRCIATED

you wont make nearlyas much as you think unless you breed harder to breed fish..

The perfect beginner fish is a convict cichlid, i set up my tank and within 2 weeks i had babies.. Im on my 3rd batch of babies and it has only been a lil over a month now...55 G and i have 3 sets of fish(set = 1 male 1 female)

Your best bets are convicts or live bearers.

neither will make money. Find whatever is high priced/rare and there's where the money is at but there will also be a huge challenge. Breed cichla azul, dats, cichla azul, etc. But they require a larger commitment and more work.

you must realize that to raise the fry to a marketable size you'll need lots of grow out tanks. I breed and raise convict cichlids for feeders, I currently have 1 55g, 1 29g, 1 20g, and 2 10g tanks devoted to this.

get a pair of convicts, very easy to breed. they will have fry and then in 6-8 months the 15 - 20 fry will be big enough to sell to the LFS for .50c each

Do you mean you're getting only 15-20 fry per brood?

Convict Cichlids should be your first breeding fish since they are so easy to breed. As we speak I have a tank set up and about 40 babies hatched a few days ago. The convicts are a fish that you learn how to take care of the fry since they are a little more hardy. Although it will be hard to find a LFS to sell them to since most of the stores I have seen with convicts all have at least one of their pairs breeding on the bottom of the tank. Other than that I think you should start out with convicts. Good Luck!

I agree, start with something easy and see how you do,.
work your way up to bigger tanks and profitable fish.

If you start out on the idea breeding fish is going to be a goldmine, youll get bored and frustrated in no time then someone will be buying your tanks for cheap on aquabid.Work with fish you like and have fun.

hate to say it, but i think it is hard to make any kind of money, especially just on a hobby scale. i know hypancistrus zebra breeders, and really the money they make just pays for costs of upkeep. of course there are exceptions for bigger ideas
