Sure, just trade me two FX5s. :)

I would never ever buy another fluval or accept one if it was free

too be fair though, I have only had fluval 204, 304 and 404

never a fx5, maybe they made a good product, but I have far too many problems in the past so I can't try a fluval again.

You're missing out. FX5 is an amazing filter.

fluval fixed most of the problems they had with the early models. the updtated 404 and 405 are great reliable filters. and easy to use.

and the FX5 makes the 405 seem like a pain in the neck to use.. it's so simple. you put the foam in, fill the media baskets (if ya want to), hook up the hoses and turn it on. it does the rest with no problem at all. it also has a quick water change back flush spigot on the bottom. makes it so you can extend the time between changing the foam mechanical filter pads.

I have a marineland C-530 and love it... Bought it a little over 2 years ago and it has been flawless and I have never had to buy a thing for it;)
I don't use carbon and just rinse out the sponges monthly to bi-monthly(could probably go yearly).
C-360s go for about $150.

good to know. May look it up when I need a larger canisters. I will probably go with an Xp4 since they are much cheaper and I am never happy.
The gf would never let me get another fluval product. We had so many leaks that we almost got kicked out of the apartment and we almost gave up on fish keeping.

Dont know how crowded your 55g will be but in my eyes the best setup would be a Eheim 2217 and an aquaclear70.
I dont think you can compare Eheim classics with 05 Fluval. To me its like comparing an aquaclear with a whisper.

Eheim 2217
