Hey I am starting my 180 up with some Central American Cichlids. Any suggestions on different fish to put it? I bought a few tonight and the guy treated me like I was starting up with a 55 gal and new to fish. I am switching from my monsters since I am travelling alot so my wife can feed them easier since we have youngins. Friendly types that eat pellets? Need some ideas here. New Jersey area.
Thanks, Jeff

hm, well since a 180 is two feet wide you can most put whatever you want in there. any cichlid will take pellets if they're given enough.

If you want a nice Central theme, can do a group of firemouths, a pair of JD's, a pair of Freddies and an argentea as a centerpiece fish.

Chocolate cichlids ,,,very pretty ,take pellets,,OR get a Jag..

i like that idea

You could keep:
1. A single male Parachromis Dovii
2. A pair of Parachromis Managuense, a pair of Freddie's
3. 5x Oscar
4. A group of Geophagus (SA actually but still..)
5. 1x Green Terror, pair of Jack Dempsey, Pair of Firemouth, and a vieja Argentea.

If you want low aggression with plenty of color I would go with:

4-5 Sajica (pretty fish, mild, and not too large)
Pearsi
Some Robertsoni (very pretty fish and mild)
Throw in some synodontis cats
Maybe some yellow fin barbs or tinfoil's
You would still have room for some of the small to mid size CA's (JD, salvini, firemouth etc). Don't mix convits with the sajica or they may interbreed.

Rapps has most of these in stock right now and he is in NJ. www.tangledupincichlids.com
