Hey guys like the title says im new to dats. I just picked up 3 ITs the other day all around 2" and put them in a 55 gallon growout. I got them eating frozen bloodworms right now. My question is tho that 1 of them has got the other 2 all hemmed up hiding behind the filter. is this ok and if not what can i do to try to get this to stop?

(ps. can a mod change the title back to "new to dats little help please"?)

Is there any hiding places in the tank at all?
Perhaps they are just establishing whos boss and hopefully it will calm down.

Good luck.

yeah there are plenty of hiding spots in the tank.. and im pretty sure they all ate when i fed them earlier so thats a good sign.. are dats a good hearty fish?

To me they are hearty fish but others may say different, just keep feeding them a variety and they may calm down.

depends on the individual fish IMHO. I have 3 NTTs, one got sick for no reason. It's not even the smallest.

they seem to be healthy now and they are eating and i plan on getting a few more types of food for them tomorrow. my worry is that the one that seems to be dominant right now might kill the other two. i was thinking dithers may be a good idea so that the dats might not turn their aggression on each other. any suggestions for dithers or if that would even work?

Yes you could try dithers,it worked for me,but make sure they are big enough not to be eaten,i tried some emperor tetras which were nearly as big as the dats but one still got eaten lol,id try some large congo tetras,or if you have room to house them when they are big try tinfoils, thats what i have with my little ones.

Get acouple more dats and it will help out alot with the one thats ruler of the tank at the moment.

I read that elsewhere too but he problem is where I live these fish are rarely seen. It took me about 3 months of having all my LFS trying to find me some just to get these 3 and she got me all she could when she got them.

What about some similar sized clown loaches? if i got like 3-4 of them you guys think that could work out? (btw i am going to be building a huge community tank soon hopefully)
