Need some advice please. The LFS has three Dats labelled as Siamese tiger fish. All three are around 4" each and they are £25 each. The shop has had them for around two months and they have never come out or coloured up.
My questions are - Is this a good price ? Will they ever colour up ? I am not even sure they are ST's could be another type of Dat as the shop does not really know. They were kept with rays in a big tank and did not colour up. The rays were sold and the Dats moved to a smaller tank and they have remained very dark. Is there any hope for these fish ? I want to get them but would put them in with two medium rays in a 6x2x2 tank that can not offer any hiding places due to the rays. Should i bother trying with the Dats ?

At that size, and for that price they are not ST's.

Stability is hit or miss. Could color up as soon as they are in your tank, could stay the same, now way to tell.

I take it IT is Indonesian Tiger ? Are these easier to come by ? Do the same rules apply as to whether they settle in and colour up or not ? Would they be O.K with stingrays ?

U r correct. IT is for indonesian Tiger. They are more readily available than the ST's or NTT's. Same rules apply.

They should be ok with rays??? I've heard people say that they are not good to mix, then I know other people who have mixed the two with no problems.

IT's are more likely to be less stable then ST's

Sorry for all the questions but one last one. Are ST whats known as wide bar and IT known as thin bar ?
I am inclined to agree the fish i am looking at are IT thin bar and that is why they are cheaper and very dark/stressed ?

ST - Dat Pulcher -Widebar
IT - Dat Microlepsis - Indo Dat
NTT - N. Thai Tiger - Thin Bar
NGT- New Guinea Tiger - Mean ******es...
ST - Silver Tiger - American Tiger
