Thanks guys.....appreciate it, and thanks for the tip on regular probiotics, duanes duanes !
Yeah, I will try either Vibrant again...or possibly one of the septic ones mentioned for the sake of saving $ and seeing if it makes a difference from what I saw with Vibrant last time.....

I would read the article on the use of probiotics (RidX) in your tank. Not sure of the size of you fish but I have 30-40 nerite snails in my 150 and you would be amazed how much algae they eat.
I would alsodouble down on the more frequent water changes and deep vacuum of the substrate.

thanks.... yeah I did read the article on probiotics.... didnt think septic tank stuff would be safe for aquariums... but I'm game.
I didnt even bother with nerites because the largest fish is an 8" oscar, and there is a 6" jack dempsey in there too. My experience with mystery snails before in my african cichlid tank was disastrous. The oscar would try to eat them for sure.

I get it. That is why I asked size of fish. I have a mixed African Haps and peacock tank. They leave the merited completely alone.

Actually I had peacocks and haps too.... but also 3 clown loaches, and while I saw the peacocks bother them from time to time I have a feeling it's the loaches who eventually took them out.
