Hello, I'm new to the forum and would like to know what cichlids i can have in a 125L Malawi biotope set up. I like Mbuna, but i know they can be very aggressive; i don't want agressive fish. Any information and input will be greatly recieved.
Thank you.

most africans can be pretty aggressive...look into lake malawi peacocks. they are a little less aggressive than mbunas

Thankyou TmBtc12 . I have heard of Peacocks, but haven't really delved into any information on them. I will read up on them and see from there.
Cheers,
Jake Townsend

If you plan on all mbuna then the aggression isn't much to deal with. Just make sure you get species that share similar aggression traits.

I've never kept Peacocks but heard they are less aggressive than mbuna.

Thanks Drew. I Would like to keep mbuna more than peacocks from what i've read. If i keep mbuna with the same aggression levels, will that cancel out, or will the group just cause turmoil? Thanks
Jake

On second thoughts, i will try Peacocks (:

your tank is really small to get peacocks. you would do better getting a bigger tank or maybe looking into other stocking options. shellies would do well in a smaller tank. for mbuna, you will want a much bigger tank

Thanks Swede. As i said, i'm new to riftlake cichlids, so what shellies could i get for my tank?

there are a few species from lake Tang you may want to look into. you could research Mbitas

Thanks (:
small cichlids from the genus neolamprologus?
