New to MFK and fish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I don't see stability at my store. There is a product by nutria fin called cycle. I am assuming its close to the same?

I THINK THAT IS EQUAL TO STABILITY .. BUT NOT SURE ... DID YOU FIND PRIME?

I have used both Nutrafin Cycle and Stability. Either is fine. You have pictures of the little guy?

Hope he makes it. Good luck, don't get discouraged we all make similar mistakes when new to the hobby, it pays to read and know in this hobby.

Just a suggestion and only that... I have always been a fan of adding 'activity' fish to make the centerpiece fish(es) feel more comfortable. In your case, maybe 3-5 Columbian Tetras. They are super hardy and their coloration (or lack thereof) will give you a visual idea of your water quality. i.e., dull fin coloring means bad, bright fin colorings = good. Also if your centerpiece fish see that the Columbian Tetras aren't scared of a bigger predator, it will make him feel more at ease.

Just my $0.02. Definitely keep us posted though! We here at MFK love progressions and pictures! ;-)

PS: Your fish looks like a MiDevil = midas/red devil.

I will definitely post progress. I've added the bio liquid and the prime. The fish has moved a little but still does not swim. I just wish he would move a little more. As for the type of fish, a newbie can only go by what the fish store tells them :)

Welcome to MFK. In the future it will be best not to trust what chain pet stores tell you about fish. You will find advice here good, also research and find knowledgable fish only stores.does your tank have a heater? You will need to maintain at least 76 degrees for most fish
