Hello all. I have been using this site for interest/reference for awhile now but haven't had much time to contribute. I went to sign up and realized I signed up back in May of 2005 :D My name is Casey. I live on the Jersey Shore and have been keeping SA/CA cichlids since I was about 14 (I'll be 31 in a couple weeks). Years ago, I regularly contributed to cichild-forum, so you may remember my name from there.

I ended up starting from scratch with the hobby after Hurricane Sandy. I lost my stock from a 240 and a 120 in the storm and I was so upset I ended up selling all of my tanks. My wife and I were in the process of moving into our house (closed the Friday before the storm) and my setups were split between my Mom's house and my In-Laws. Both houses flooded and lost power for 14 days. I recently just dug up some pictures from those setups that I'll share at some point. Maybe the toughest loss was a Thick and Tall 12"+ barred midas whose father you may remember.... Mo's "Bighead", whom I got from Jeff probably 12 years ago.

I had a perfect place for a 4' tank in the new house in which you can see the tank from two rooms. I decided to try something new and started a Malawi tank in a 90 gallon. I always knew I would get back into the American's but I needed to try something new after the loss. My love for the Gold Saum/GT is what finally got me back. I currrently have a 90 gallon - F1 Midas from Arenal, a 120 SA/CA setup, and a 125 mixed Malawi Male setup. I love the 125 but I don't have the same connection to the Malawi cichlids that I have with the SA/CA's. I will likely be selling my Malawi stock and upgrading the 125 to either a 150 or 220.

I'll post some pictures in this thread of my setups. I am very impressed with the knowledge and the quality of responses in general from what I've read on this Site. I hope to contribute when I can since I have a 2 year old and 2 month old . Looking forward to being a part of MFK.

Picked this 120 up from an *** member at the Fall auction and finally finished the custom stand and canopy yesterday. I'm hoping to post the build in the DIY section.

Glad you are back at it. Where did you pick up the Briedohri's

Welcome back man. Breidhori are cool. I had one catch duck lips right when he was getting big and looking good. I loved that fish. Big pink thug. :)

Very nice, and welcome. I spy with my little eye... A paratilopia bleekeri/polleni, 1 rainbow shark, 4 giant danios, a convict and one other fish... Both pics hiding behind the center log on the left side. What's that?

Thanks for the compliments guys! Definitely happy with the stand/canopy. Been quite some time since my last wood project.

Thanks smitty. The breidohri is from Dan at cichlidsoftheamericas. Got him last February.

Thanks. Sorry to hear about your breidohri. They really are a beautiful species. The pinks, purples, and other pastel colors are so vivid and unique. The saum and the breidohri take turns as the dominant fish in this tank.

Good eye Buphy! That is in fact a bleekeri from Rapps. A red-tailed black shark. Been keeping them in most of my tanks since they were the only fish that successfully survived in a Mexican Slider tank back when I was a teenager. 4 giant danios. Split up the 9 I had in my 90. The convict is a Honduran blue "Rio Danli" from Rapps. The blues are incredible on this guy. The last fish you mentioned is a red shoulder/rotkeil severum that came in a bit smaller than expected. He doesn't get much attention at this point and seems to be doing well. He does love this one spot on that center piece of wood. I also have the gold severum. Lost one in the hurricane that was about 10 years old. :(

Thanks again! I'll try to get some more photos up.
