Thanks. Sorry to hear about your breidohri. They really are a beautiful species. The pinks, purples, and other pastel colors are so vivid and unique. The saum and the breidohri take turns as the dominant fish in this tank.
Good eye Buphy! That is in fact a bleekeri from Rapps. A red-tailed black shark. Been keeping them in most of my tanks since they were the only fish that successfully survived in a Mexican Slider tank back when I was a teenager. 4 giant danios. Split up the 9 I had in my 90. The convict is a Honduran blue "Rio Danli" from Rapps. The blues are incredible on this guy. The last fish you mentioned is a red shoulder/rotkeil severum that came in a bit smaller than expected. He doesn't get much attention at this point and seems to be doing well. He does love this one spot on that center piece of wood. I also have the gold severum. Lost one in the hurricane that was about 10 years old.

Sweet. Severums was my first guess but the bars looked really dark. Very nice though, hopefully he grows to match everyone.

I'm thinking of selling the stock in the 125 Malawi and either swapping the 125 for a 150 since I can then keep the stand and canopy (nice maple wood), or selling/trading the whole 125 and replacing it with a 220. I would then put some of my 120 stock (oscar, breidohri, etc.) in the new tank and expand the stock of both the new tank and the 120. I am limited to a 6' tank in this location, unless I end up building a plywood tank, I could probably fit a 80" tank max in this spot. I know the 150 won't give me much more options but I like the look of the 150 compared to the shorter 125. I have roughly 25 adult Malawian cichlids in the 125. Mostly full color at this point.
Any thoughts?
Hahaha i would trade you my 150 for the 125... hate it. The foot print is the same as the 125 dont think it would change much in terms of stocking. I would go with the 220. Any fish you havent kept but were curious about ?

What don't you like about the 150? the height? I'm leaning towards doing the 220. I did find a 220 that needs to be resealed, but comes with glass tops and a stand. The guy may be willing to trade for the 125. I also have a nice 75 gallon to barter. My 125 is older but the maple stand and canopy are sharp. I would probably end up building my own stand/canopy for the 220 anyway though so the stand's value is minimal to me.
I am interested in other Amphilophus species. I have only kept different morphs of labiatus and citrinellus. I was always intrigued by the lyonsi. I am also interested in another vieja type. I have kept synspilum, maculicauda, and now breidohri. Lost the synspilum in the storm. Was one of my favorites of all time and only had him for about a year at the time. Regani's were one I always wanted and never got. As for other genus that I've been interested in and never kept for one reason or another is the Parachromis, mainly the smaller, less insane freddies! I love the larger ones, but again my max tank size is likely 220.

Yeah im not a fan of the height. I guess the additional 25 gals helps with water quality. Its a pain to get into the tank and i feel like the fish dont use the upper half of the tank, at least the fish im keeping in there (pearsei, heterospilus, and polypterus)
I would go for the 220 i feel like over time you wouldnt notice a difference between the 125 and 150 in terms of stocking its kind of the same tank.
