Thanks everyone for the warm welcome and the tips. @Polish, great tip; being a seafood foodie, always have shrinmps/fish in stock; will try that out today itself; as it is I had planned to start the Aro on live Cricket feed from this Friday, so perfect timing. Thanks for sharing.

@RedDevil - will incorporate your suggesstion; since the last week, he is enjoying the freeze dried Shrimp Plankton more than the Hikari sticks (guess 3 months of the same food could do that). Thanks for sharing.

just a sneaky way of packing in more nutrition..works for my old arow of 9 years old... welcome again.....:D

@RedDevil - been incorporating the "embedded Hikari stick in a shrimp"; however the shrimp begins to sink the next second and the Aro does not pick it up from the floor. I have to attempt it a couple of times with fresh bait for her to attempt to get it. The plenty of shrimp on the bed, is keeping my Gara very happy and stocky. The Gara is loving it, no doubt about that; but how do get the Aro to get healthy and eat well.

Thanks.

i use Azoo Arowana pellets... they float on top.. yours must be sinking pellets... if you have any floating type pellets insert these into the shrimp..and they will float.. even if they are cichlid floating pellets.. its all good for him..

7-8" is pretty small to be feeding stuffed shrimp. I would keep heavy feeding of just floating pellets as the staple of the diet. You can mix in cut pieces of market shrimp, fish fillets, earth worms, etc. as supplementary foods in the diet. To keep these foods suspended use a "veggie clip", though eventually your aro should take these from your hand.

I know it was posted in August, hence the 8", not to mention the stuffing shrimp advice was given while the thread was still relatively new. Either way the OPs aro is still a small aro no matter what the growth in the last 6 weeks. If it is eating pellets or food sticks then continue feeding that way. If the aro is not eating pellets/food sticks then it should be starved until it does so. No reason to stuff shrimp until the aro is 18"+ and even then it is only needed if for some reason the aro won't eat pellets/food sticks.

I have a 30" silver and two blacks (20", 25") that all eat pellets. The only reason I stuff shrimp is for the other silver that has DE in both eyes and can't find food on the surface

i do it because it sure cuts down on the water quality going bad... they eat it all instead of letting all the pellets start to break apart..and they are getting superior quality in every bite.. but as long as they are eating pellets i agree..thats most important

Didn't realize you had any smaller aros. though you just had the big 33"er.

:welcome:
