Ya'll just have that ugly bluegill strain up there, the pretty ones are down south. hehehe

I think you're right Dredcon. But your bluegill can't be as pretty as a longear or a OSS can they?

Watch those bluegills with that Oscar. They are mean little buggers, they could take an oscar out.
My bluegill were a little drab, but they were fun to watch.

I loved my bluegill when I kept them indoors. Now they are all outside in the pond and they still have alot of personality to them.

If you want to wait till late June/early July I will be there.I was there last year and took my casting net to the Glen Oak Park Lagoon.I caught in 3 hours time tons of blue gill,6 bullhead(black and yellow),tons of white crappie,a small large mouth, tons of green sunfish,a bunch of warmouths, and 3 of this fish that looks like a tinfoil barb.I plan of being prepared this time to bring the fish back with me.All of the fish had some really nice color to them too.Sizes ranged from 1" to 6 or 7"
If you are interested in getting together PM me.

well for a catfish you could try bullhead. i live about a half hour away from peoria illinois and we caught a few (about ten to be exact) bullhead fry in early summer in the local creek. what we did was look for small black catfish and when you go to grab them they will dart under a small rock or clump of algae. then just scoop up the algae or rock and you will also get the catfish if you do it right. you could also try a casting net or flyfishing if you dont mind slightly older fish. hope this helps.

What creek were you in?I would love to get a hold of some that small. They would stand a better chance of making the trip back up here.Do you know what species they were?
