New To Natives, Thinking About Setting Up A 180

Well i had a 125 witch i had yellow perch like 6 grass pikes and 1 northern pike and a large mouth bass. 1 pike died to sickness or jumping and other problems. Northern Jumped out he was about 16inchs and the bass grew 5 inches in 1 summer, perch lost to the pike.

If i could do it again Yes!!!!!
All the fish cost me a whole o$.
I got everything from the creek fish,food,rocks,water.
 
Turtles eat fish. If the fish is too big to be eaten in one bite, the turtle will make it fit, one chunk at a time. Most species also need some sort of land area...
 
Alright thanks, I'll re-think that. So what about aggression issues? Will I be able to add 4+ inch sunfish, crappies, and perch together? I'm assuming I'll need to have one male and a few females in order to keep a group?
 
Make sure you get all these species at same sizes or similar sizes and have them growing at same rate however bullheads and pickerel are fastest growers. Adult bullheads loves to snacking on smaller sunnies/perches/crappies/pickerels and the bullheads are known for being gluttony as they can actually eat a large meal. I personally open a 14" black bullhead up and I found a 9" sucker inside.

I would watch on pickerel if you are house it with highly-aggressive sunfish/perches as they may eat all pickerel's foods before the pickerel can have a chance to eat. Also depends on what species of sunfish, some of them are unsuitable as tankmates for pickerel. Bigmouthed sunfish such as Green, Warmouth, Redbreast, Mud and Rock Bass could eaten all pickerel's foods in few seconds so avoid them if you want keep a pickerel. Make sure your pickerel's a Grass or Redfin because Chain Pickerel are known to prey on adult sunfish and perch.

Sunfish have no interests into crappies and perches as crappies and perches do not hold territories so they are unlikely be bullied by sunfishes.
 
Personally I would go with a LMB a SMB and a pickerel and let them grow up together. I did that with 4 LMB as babies so they didnt kill each other. The best part is throwing 20 minnows in and watching them get devoured in 1 min flat..
 
Completely forgot about this thread lol. So what size would you guys say is maximum for them to get along? Say I were to get all the fish around 2-3" (pickerel maybe 4") and want to keep them in one tank for a year (while I'm at school), but want them to grow quickly. What size tank would I need? Would they all outgrow a 125g in a year? I'm guessing it'd be close?
 
Bump, anybody? And if I try adding larger adult fish to the tank (5-8" depending on the fish) where would I see the aggression issues? Mainly in the sunfish?
 
As for Sunfish,don't add pumpkinseed.They stay quite small and will have no chance against a LMB or Pickerel ;)
