I have use oak many times in my tanks with out any effects except for tannins. Why would oak kill your fish? I have never heard of this before and has never killed my fish.

Yes, sometimes tannins and bacteria etc need to be salt soaked for a couple of days to get out of the driftwood, some fish love tannins some it will kill.

In that reasoning ,any wood will kill your fish. You don't want to just tell someone not to use it cause it will kill their fish. Oak is just as safe as any other wood. Just take precautions as you would with anything else you put in your tank. It's not necessarily the tannins ,but the change in ph that kills the fish.

That's correct any wood that's not properly cured can kill your fish, all woods are different and have different chemicals, it is a must to use driftwood that has had the resins leeched out into the water;l water and salt can be used for a couple weeks time in a container or small pool to kill bacteria and funguses in the wood and then rinsed off with treated water....PS I never stated that only oak can kill your fish, Im not sure I understand why you are being so defensive.
