Hi there, new to the foums too. I've been wanting some sort of oddball fish for a while now and I am getting a 20 gallon long for christmas. I want a bigger tank and get monster fish, but as I am only 17 I have neither the space, budget, or the okay to do this, so I have to settle for this. I was thinking about just getting 1 spotted climbing perch with a clown pleco, do you think this would be okay seeing as how you guys are the masters of oddballs and monster fish. Thanks!

Don't know too much about small tanks and small fish but Welcome to MFK. You should be able to get some good advice here. Beware though, MonsterFishKeeping and Multiple Tank Syndrome is extremely contagious. :D

should be okay for a while. I've read of multiple people keeping ctenopoma in a 20 gallon but I've also read on a few sites where the minimum tank size is closer to 50 gallons. beautiful fish though. Do keep in mind that clown plecos don't just eat algae. In fact, mine won't touch it. Have fun and welcome!

Thanks! I pretty much already had MTS, as this will be my fourth tank that I'm about to set up. It will be replacing the third though. I already have a community tank and want something different that will fit in a smaller tank.
I have also read mixed reviews about the fish so I'm still not sure what I'm going to do. Any other otptions that I might have?
I am aware of the fact the clown pleco don't eat just algea, I feed him zuchini once and a while too.

good someone else that's a teenager. i'm 15, just chum up to the parents theyll get u 1

ya, I wish... My dad has said before that he wants a 500 gallon tank to house walleyes. We are fishermen and in the winter he would jig the walleyes and see how they bite :grinno:

lol my dad would just be like ohhhh pretty colors

my dad shows no interest in fish, my mom likes looking but won't touch the tank except to OVERFEED!!

anyway personally i think you could pull off the perch but personally id go with a bristlenose pleco, stay a bit smaller, and actually do clean the tank

I've thought about getting a BN, they look cool too. Any one else have and ideas on what else I could get thats a little different?
