I'm sure I'd have no problem keeping piraya. I don't think going from cichla to piranha will be any kind of step up. I always put in a couple of weeks research taking a new direction in fish keeping.
However from what I've read piraya grow to at least 16" so a 20" wide tank will not do for life. Besides my cichla are my show fish. This will be my show tank.
Again if I decide to upgrade to a larger tank, maybe 7x2x2, can I add piraya to the shoal of natteri if they are the same size or slightly larger.

Thats the same size tank as mine and i keep 19 Reds sized from 4 to 7 inches and had only one loss but that was when there were less than an inch long. i keep them fed on white fish, cows heart and for a treat chicken breast. mine are very happy(well they look it :))

Good luck with yours and hope to see some good pictures to..

They look great. I've subscribed to your videos too. I'm really impressed with the growth rate. The ones I'm getting are 2-3" so I should get them up to 5-6" in no time. How often do you feed them?

I used to feed them everyday when they were little but now about 3 times a week. Glad you like my set up :)

A good rule of thumb is about 20 gal per adult fish. I would start with extra since you will lose some as they grow. If you need a good deal visit my forum. I have a nice special on them
