:WHOA: How big is that tank??? Awesome!!! If you dont mind me asking... What did a set-up like that run you? Makes me want my big tank even more!!! Senegal is just plain greedy! He must be eating pellets that i piut in at night for the bumblebee cats cus hes even bigger today. Being that hes as big as he is, should i wait for his belly to disapear totally b4 i feed him again? or just leave it a day or 2?

it would be hard to stop him eating food for other fish,in the wild they wouldnt eat everyday but are oppotunist so if they find food but arnt really hungry will probaly still eat it.it best if they can have 'no food' at times to allow there digestive systems to clear out as they wudnt be doing it in the wild non stop.my fish can go a long time without food and have no side effects.i feed 2-3 times a week, each individual will eat differant amounts and daily or weekly.so what im trying to say lol is if you can prevent him from having a pop belly everyday do it, as it will put a lot of strain longterm on his digestive system if he dont.my tank cost alot as i went for acrylic which is 35mm thick but other than that i run two fx5 filters and an ehim 3.lighting is t5 x4 bulbs at min could do with 6.heaters are titanium duels, very cheap and best ive ever used...so acurate.daily running costs are next to nothing.

Bet it was worth every penny tho!!! Where did you get the heaters? ive been looking but cant seem to find much... Like you said, i think ill ease back on the feeding- what i meant was not feed so much live/ frozen food, that way im not feeding the senegal cus he doesnt seem to eat the pellets. I thought about fx5's too, i may go with all pond solutions ef2000 though, 2 of them should do it and for the price of an fx5 i can probably get 2 of them and still have enough to get the lights.... Although i do like th idea of the fx5 water change feature...

Realistically speaking, what kind of size maximum would i be looking at for either the 72"x18" or the 72"x24"? I mean a 26"+ fish would be cool, but would the 24" width be ok? With 'normal' shaped fish I can see how tank width needs to be greater than fish length, but with an 'eel shaped' fish is this the same? Truthfully though anything like that will be a long way away yet... I dont imagine that a congicus of any size will be cheap, and that even if i can find someone to order it for me. Maybe maidenhead like darren suggested. But tank is first on the list and that will pretty much knock the funds for 6

all pond solution filters are great i had 2, i prefered the ones without the built in u.v light tho they dint last long and not very well designed in but other than that match the fx5 for performance wise, my fav would be the fx5,pipe work and build quality a little better but then price is huge differance .i use there circulation pump and even think my light was from them 2.
its hard to get congicous in uk one of the hardest species i had to find and got it from an ad in aquarist-classifieds.(very good uk site) mine a male tho so am still after a female.got heaters from a china seller of ebay will get the link for you when i find it.

Well thats the heater sorted... well I know which one to get, seems like a good deal... Im still deciding on the filter, but ive got plenty of time really. Its hard, cus i know that if i went for the 18" wide tank, with the all pond filter id be able to afford a lot quicker, so i need to learn some patience lol. Thanks for all your help darren, ill keep you posted as and when it all goes ahead :)
