I am looking to add a couple powerheads to my 180g (6x2x2), but I dont know much about them. I have very minimal flow in my tank, and am looking for enough current just to help "move" debris and solids around so they will find their way to the filter intakes. I have too many dead spots. Anybody have a good suggestion on a GPH and brand?? Thanks in advance!

This is the power head I use the prop is fully covered fish can't get sucked into them, they just use a magnet to clamor to your tank so you can place them anywhere, there biggest model pushes 1400gps wich might be what you want if you're trying to push water in a 6' tank. Just my opinion. I have 3 of these and have not had any issues with them

Very nice! Just under $50 on amazon, too! So you think the 1400gph would be enough for my tank, or would it be smarter to go with maybe 2 1050gph's?

I think it depends how much flow you're wanting, going with 2 1050gph overheads would certainly give you more circulation then the 1400gph as for what's better for your tank that I guess depends how much current you want for your tank, besides if they are a good price if you pick up 2 1050 power heads and it's a little to much flow you can always just pull one out, save it for when you set up your next monster tank lol.

Thanks guys for the input! I appreciate it!

Some of the Koralia's can also be put on a wave maker if you want to do anything fun like that (for fw it'd be more for tuning the pumps to less than full power but still more than the 1050's). Also, putting them at opposite ends of the tank and pointing them at each other for conflicting currents will help a lot, you might also need to adjust your filter's return once the pumps are in.

Thanks Cjack! I do like the idea of running a wave maker, just because I like the idea of having control over the gph of the powerhead. I think I will be going with 2 of the 1400's and a controller.

Petsmart/ Petco has the power heads with the sponge filter attachment that have always worked well for me. I don't know the GPH but I have 4 of them in my 150.
My fish like a lot of water movement though.

I know what your talking about... Seen them! That wouldn't be a bad idea, I would just worry that they would clog rather quick pushing 1400gph... and wouldnt want to have the powerhead start to strain trying to pull through a clogged intake.

Those would work fantastic in my 55 tho, being as I wouldn't be running anything near that GPH
