New to powerheads...

What brand are you guys talking about? Hopefully the sponge filter would be really easy to take off for cleaning if they do get clogged.

The brand I am talking about that has an optional quickfilter is the Aquaclear Powerheads, but I see no reason why you couldn't put a sponge on the intake of any powerhead, apart from them clogging up depending on GPH...

Ohh, okay. I have not played with that brand. Some powerheads can't have a sponge filter on them (like Koralia) because there are flow slots the entire length of the equipment, so any restriction on one end will result in far more loss in power than you would think, as well as the flow coming out in weird directions

Ahhh, gotcha.

Yeah I'm pretty sure I have my mind made, gonna go with 2 Koralia 1400's... Should take care of business!

Thanks everybody for you expertise and advise!
