i first took my 125 gal tha was cycled with sand for substrate, then ifound out they needed crushed coaral so i purchased crush coral and instant ocean salt, my water is cloudy but i think its doing good because, my salinity on my hydrmeter, reads 28, and my gravity is 1.021, do i have too add live rock or no , i have two xp3's runing the tank. is my set-up right:headbang2

Well what kinda setup you going for do you want Corals, Fish only, Predator's based on what your looking to put in the tank I can answer your question a little bit better.

You need to do a bit of reading, my man ;) Check out WetWebMedia.com for tons of great info, as well as my blog (link in signature) for good sources of information.

Your water is probably cloudy from the crushed coral dust, give it a few days to settle! Sand is infinitely preferable to crushed coral, I have a feeling you're listening to the advice of a fish store, which is ALWAYS a bad idea.

Well said M.Maddox! caribemob Reading is the most important aspect of Saltwater but for what your looking for as far as prowling you looking for a mean predator like a clown trigger or something along the line's of good aggression? Advice from fish store's isn't alway's the best but same as listening to other hobbyist you just gotta find someone trusting who know's there stuff and you can trust I work at the same store anthony calfo did and I alway's research go to school and listen to advice from other's and apply what work's and try to fix what doesn't. That's why reading will play and important role in your thought of fish so you can post and we can research and help you along with experience with the fish. The Clown I have is alway's on the prowl for month's I would have to stick my finger in one side of the tank so he would chase it and hurry up and scrub algae on the other then after some time he trusted me and ate out of my hand and even would rub against my finger's when I was cleaning Trigger's are great fish beautiful color's and fun to watch along side with like a Bird Wrasse. can i get a dogface puffer, and have triggers or that wont work, just help me stock along those lines of predators:headbang2

the tank is big enought for a puffer and trigger's I would just make sure to montior the interatction's and have plenty of live rock and place's for them to be able to swim in and out of and not be all up in each other's business all day. Dogface puffer's are my favorite puffer just make sure with puffer's and trigger's you give them clam's with the shell or snail's so they can wear there teeth down. Keep me posted on what your thinking so I can do my best to guide you in the right direction.

Mr.Reef24

yeah i would get a refractometer instead of a hydrometer. (hydrometers are horribly inaccurate). and i would get your salinity to 1.023 atleast.
