New to saltwater, Quick question...

Test strips are junk and less than 70% accurate. You have to use the liquid kits. If these are indeed test strips your using then you really don't know whether your tank is cycled. Test strips are very flakey, sometimes they throw you onto the opposite end of the spectrum. I have both strips and the liquid, I get far better readings with the liquid.

Salifert kits are the most accurate

I will go out tomorrow and buy a liquid test kit. Can you add macroalgaes right away? or do they prefer a matured tank like coral??

Macro can be added right away

for Flora YES the lighting is fine maybe even overkill - problems going to be CO2 levels more so than intense light and alk stuff. I'd imagine the lower PH range would be more healthy for plants as the arcidic end of the scale is more what they use for energy ( organics - sugars, proteins, ammino's, tannin, etc..) as opposed to the higher alk end used by hard corals to produce calcium based skeletons.

YES - the damsel will pick at flora all day - NO the gramma will not it is 100% meat eater.

FYI - that tank is gorgeous! - hope this helps.

thanks for your advice, I might have to exchange the damsel then :(
