very neat looking shark. Hope you can keep him or find a good home. LFS is not a good place to bring it because they will sell it to someone else just as they did you. The shark would have no hope.

Wow, appears to be an Indonesian Bamboo to me, Chiloscyllium hasseltii. They aren't that easy to find usually, and are quite sensitive.
I gotta say, he looks longer than 4 inches in that picture, but that could be because there is no real point of reference.. Has he eaten anything yet?

to eat...i wouldnt suggest live in anything but an emergency:
Try live Shrimp
or cleaned squid (AKA uncooked squid rings) This is from liveaquria.
Good luck, give us updates.

That is for sure an Indo bamboo. Especially at that size. Those things don't eat worth a crap when small and are super sensative. Good luck. The only thing I've had success with is live ghost shrimp, and even then it was hit and miss.

Yeah - looks like what you have is an Indonesian Bamboo shark (Chiloscyllium hasselti).

Unfortunately they aren't exactly known for being a hardy species.

They do how grow only to about 24" - if you can keep it alive til it's fully grown.

Thanks, for letting me know what species it is, I already took it back to the store, they gave me about half of what I paid. One day when I have a large enough basment for a 300g tank I will have my shark.
