Hello, all! Wow... what an unexpected week. Fate's fickle hand did it's thing, and in a week and a half, I'll have a fully setup, 75 gallon saltwater tank that is currently already up and running. Getting it from creepyoldguy here on this forum. Anyway... I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I'M DOING! LOL...

Okay... exaggeration. I have a general idea. I've been keeping fish for over 20 years now, but all freshwater. I have flirted with the idea of going salt from time to time... but the cost of setting it up was always a major barrier. Well now, I am acquiring an already setup, turnkey system. All I have to do now, is not mess it up.

So between now and next weekend, I will be doing a LOT of reading and research. Should be fun. I also solicit any advice... general or specific... from you guys. I would figure you guys here in the salt section are every bit as cool as my hombre's in the cichlid section! As I am reading up on SW tanks and getting my mind right to move forward with being successful with this setup, I will ask you guys the fun question right up front... whatever should I stock it with? IDEAS... LET'S GET THE CREATIVE JUICES FLOWING!

Can you tell I'm excited? LOL... Thanks in advance for the advice and other words!

OMG... so many choices... my head is going to explode with color! LOL... I'll go through it all, figure out what's compatible, and what makes sense for a 75 gallon from a stocking standpoint. And also figure out which ones are best for beginners like me! Need guys that aren't easy to kill!

& maybe once you get use to saltwater tanks and upgrade to a bigger tank you could go with one of these? My favorite moray eel....the Dragon Moray Eel, you may have to save up for this guy though because he is 900 dollars!! lol:headbang2

ok, well first few questions before you can look at stocking ideas.
What size tank is it?
What is the filtration system on it?
Are you going to do a fish only tank or a coral/fish tank?

Well, 2 out of 3 are answered in the first two posts, so I'm ahead of the curve! LOL... (75 gallon tank/FOWLR).

That said, here's the whole deal:

75g tank and stand 2 4' light strips
Overflow box, u tube and w/d that sits in a 10g sump
Aqua sea remora hang on back protein skimmer
2 small powerheads
Heater
Live sand and approx 50-60lbs of liverock

Livestock in the tank at the moment is:

4 green chromis, white spot puffer, rusty angel and lawn mower blenny.

Of course, I have no clue if I'm keeping this particular stock or not... but it's what I'm starting with for now, by virtue of the fact they are coming with the setup!
