Not wanting to say either is better but i run a fx5 canister amongst others on my 120 gal and it does the job ok.
Some food for thought tho.
I saw a very clean 200 gal tank up with an under gravel filter and 2 powerheads that had a total of 10x turnover and this dude swore by ugf and i could not argue.
