New to the fish world

I looked into it and i will be building a wet/dry filter. Should i also build a sump set up or just the wet/dry filter? After doing some thinking i am going to be building a tank on a stand, not an inwall setup like previously planned. Is there anything different for filtration or other things i should consider? Thanks for your advice
 
I'm sure some people will disagree with me but with a tank that size get two Oscars. They are very hardy fish and can tolerate a lot of mistakes. They live a very long time and are very easy to care for. They require a lot of tank maintanence ( like water changes and vaccuming ) and will give you a lot of experience with the basics of having an aquarium. And the best reason of all OSCARS TOTAL KICK A**. You'll enjoy them.
