hi just thought id say hi, new to the site and have a 75 gal. native aquarium. all are juvenille but my fish consist of 8 lm bass, 1 bluegill, 3 bullheads, a crawdad, and some small gold fish as well. i know it sounds a little crowded but theyre all pretty small yet. i plan on releasing the natives into our own private pond in the spring and upgrading to grass pickerel. although i have read other threads on the subject they all seem pretty general. just wondering any advice on keeping them.

Welcome to MFK and its Cold water section, looks like you have some cool looking fish, and a great plan. LMBS and Bullheads eat a lot and grow fast so it would be in your best interests to have alot of filtration and to try and get them on pellets after they get fully acclimated to the tank (feed them shrimp, bloodworms, worms and small crickets for a couple of weeks to fatten them up before trying to train them to pellet feed), it would also be a good idea to get a water test kit and test your water once a week (if you dont already have one).

First off welcome to MFK! I'm glad to see another native fish keeper on here. Largemouth bass may be tricky to convert to pellets but its not impossible for I have done it with my LMB. As for the pond idea that sounds pretty solid. What all is in the pond?

for filtration i have the marineland bio-wheel. and it seems to be keeping up with the tank fairly well, as far as feed i try to mix it up every day just to keep em eating whatever i throw in. i have some fish pellets and flake mixed together just to consolidate two feed containers, chopped up shrimp, blood worms, and the occasional rosey reds. the pond mainly consist of sunfish, bass, channel cats and a few crappie. thanks for the "welcomes" by the way.

mind if i ask what you guys are keeping? just wondering.......anyone know anything on the redfin or grass pickerel

Just rosy reds at the moment....I used to keep Green Sunfish, Oscars, Goldfish, madtoms etc. I am waiting until this summer when we move to get a bigger tank and make a Missouri Longear community tank. No Ive never kept Pickeral, but I believe NOTO has and alot of people on the NANFA forum have.

I have no experience with pickeral but I have kept lmb, bluegill, green sunfish, orange spot sunfish, channel catifsh, flathead, brown, yellow, and black bullheads, fathead minnows, common carp, crayfish, and quite a few others that are slipping my mind at the moment :P
